Hi There,
i did find a Baptism on Family Search for William Chandler 28th August 1783 St Mary-St Marylebone Road St Marylebone.
Fathers name Richard Mothers name Elizabeth. Can you tell me if William had any siblings?
I have found another Baptism for Caroline Chandler born 26th July 1826 Baptised 18th September 1831..Fathers name Richard Mothers name Sarah..St Mary-St Marylebone Road St Marylebone. There are a number of Chandlers for St Mary-St Marylebone Road St Marylebone. Another Baptism for Charles St Mary-St Marylebone Road St Marylebone. Fathers name Richard Mothers name Mary. Any additional information you have might help with this one.

I don't know about any siblings but he was definitely born about 1817 and always puts Middlesex or St Marylebone on the census......he was a teacher eventually and also wrote the census down for his villages.
Hi Stellier,
Not conclusive but might be worth looking at the following family:-
On IGI there is a marriage between a Richard Chandler and Elizabeth Gregory 9 Feb 1812 Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London.
Of course I know that Gregory is a male name (it is my own son’s middle name) but “could” this be where the William “Gregory” Chandler came from?
If William gives his father’s profession as a cabinet maker in 1840 – I wonder if his father could have been an upholsterer when William was christened??
Could the following christening record be the one that you are looking for, as Marylebone is in the city of Westminster.
Name: William Chandler Record Type: Baptism Date: 2 Mar 1817 Father's Name: Richard Chandler Mother's Name: Elizabeth Chandler Parish: St James, Piccadilly, Westminster Borough: WestminsterCounty: Middlesex
At the time they are living in Castle Street and Richard is an upholsterer.
There appear to be other possible children that may be from this mother and father as they move around the city:-
Name: Sophia Chandler Record Type: Baptism Date: 7 Oct 1815 Father's Name: Richard Chandler Mother's Name: Elizabeth Chandler Parish: St James, Piccadilly, Westminster Borough: WestminsterCounty: Middlesex
Name: Anne Chandler Record Type: Baptism Date: 25 Jul 1819 Father's Name: Richard Chandler Mother's Name: Elisabeth Chandler Parish: St James, Piccadilly, Westminster Borough: WestminsterCounty: Middlesex
Name: Elizabeth Emma Chandler Record Type: Baptism Date: 12 Feb 1832 Father's Name: Richard Chandler Mother's Name: Elizabeth Chandler Parish: St Anne, Soho, Dean Street Borough: WestminsterCounty: Middlesex (This record is very difficult to read but another version of this record on IGI gives the middle name of Frances)
Name: Arthur Alexander Chandler Record Type: Baptism Date: 25 Oct 1835 Father's Name: Richard Chandler Mother's Name: Elizabeth Chandler Parish: St Luke, Old Street Borough: IslingtonCounty: Middlesex
More questions than answers at this stage I’m afraidbut I will see if I can find a more positive link for you!
