Hi Hazelnut
Could he have been in the States??
I have a George Pyatt on several records who states that he emmigrated from England in 1897 and can be found in 1918 in Nevada - he gives his closest relative's name as Johanna Pyatt - mother - who lives in Redruth Cornwall. He then appears to move to Los Angeles.
His death is registered in 1969 Torbay, Devonshire but the social security death index shows that he was still a resident in LA at the time and the death was informed by the US Consulate in London.
Hi again Hazlenut...Washoe, on the Army records, was in Nevada..so he looks like he was yours
If he is the right George Pyatt he was born 2nd Aug 1876 and travels back to the the UK to visit his mother who is living 5 Barsett Street Redruth in 1914.
He then travels back to the UK again in 1931 and marries Gladys Miriam Hicks in Redruth and goes back with her to LA. If you think that this sounds right for your guy - I will send through the references for you.

If the George you refer to is the son of Joseph and Joanna born St Day then I would say Geniegenie is spot on.
