    Default Andrew Whitehead

Need some help please if possible. I am wondering if there is a connection to be found for Andrew Whitehead born either Falkirk or Lanarkshire Scotland to either James and Marion Whitehead or to a John and Margaret Whitehead Nee Reid or to John and Agnes Whitehead Nee Robertson. I am not sure the marriage date or place for James to Marion but one of their children was born 1727 Lanarkshire(Magdaline) John Whitehead married Agnes Robertson 1808 Falkirk but he could have been a widow at the time of marriage. Possibly married before to Margaret Reid? Your help with Andrew would be most appreciated.

When do you think Andrew was born ? and is this the Magdaline you refer to? What is the connection between 1727 and 1808?

    Hi Noggin28,
Thanks for your reply. There are only two Magdaline Whiteheads on Family Search the one for 1727 Innerwick, East Lothian, Scotland and the other for 1800 Falkirk. I feel the two were related but can't be sure? To cut a long story short my Gt Gt Grandparents William and Amelia Whitehead named one of their daughters Magdaline. My Gt Gt Grandfather was born in Falkirk and he was the son of John and Agnes Whitehead. John and Agnes married 1808 Falkirk but I am not sure if he was a widow at the time of marriage. Magdaline born 1800 Falkirk was the daughter of John and Margaret so I am trying to find out if Magdaline could have been his half sister. There was also Joseph Andrew Whitehead who was a son born to my Gt Gt Grandparents so I,m trying to work out where the name Andrew came from. Most of their children were named after both sides of the family which I have matched up but not the name Andrew.

Thanks Noggin28. I hope you can understand what I am trying to get across to you. I have also joined Scotlands People and have paid for some credits but nothing to be found.

Noggin28 many thanks for your help. I have searched Margaret's death on Scotlands People and she is not mine. This Margaret was 84 years of age when she died.
You asked about the Marriage for my Gt Gt Grandparents so here it is. Yes you are right I am trying to find a link between Magdaline and my Whiteheads. Also trying to wrok out where the name Andrew might fit into the picture. The Scots has a system when it came to naming their children after Paternal and Maternal Grandparents and siblings..That you Noggin28..

Noggin28, there is also the name David and where it ties in with my Whiteheads. David was the last son born to my Gt Gt Grandparents. I will have a good look at my tree tonight after work and will add all the childrens names born to my Gt Gt Grandparents for you to look at so you can see who they were named after..The three names I don't have any answers for were Magdaline,Andrew and David. Must have been named after someone as all the others were. I really do appreciate your help as this has been a hard task for me. Have a great day Noggin28.

    Hi Noggin28,
You have asked the millon dollar question. Is it the same William? I think it is although there seems to be some problem with William's actual birth year. From his Royal Artillery Final Description papers in 1863 he was aged 43 years. They go on to say on the 15th March 1842 he was aged 21 and 1/2 years..Twenty one and a half. He was attested for the RA in Glasgow in the county of Lanark. You can find him on the 1871 Census with Amelia living in Mulgrove Place Woolwich. The surname mistranscribed as Whitehouse. Could he have been telling fibs about his age who knows. Maybe he had one of those baby faces and could get away with saying he was younger than he really was by seven years and got away with it keeping the secret up all his life. One thing for sure he was the son of John Whitehead. His two oldest daughters Maria named so after her maternal Grandmother and Agnes Elizabeth who I belive was named so after William's Mother were both born in Ireland. My Gt Grandfather was next cab off the rank born 1861 County Cork. William after his Father, John after his paternal Grandfather and George after his Maternal Uncle. Next we have Sophia Magdaline born 1863 Woolwich. Sophia after her Mothers sister and then we have that name Magdaline. I have left one daughter out as I know who she was named after so next son was Joseph Alexander. Joseph after her Maternal Grandfather and Alexander after William as that was his middle name and his brothers name also. Next son born was Robert Andrew Joseph..Robert after his Uncle, Joseph after his Grandfather then there is the name Andrew so don't know where that name fits into the naming pattern named after who? Youngest son born was David having no middle name and I have no idea who he might have been named after.

I really do believe Magdaline born 1800 Falkirk was somehow related. Not knowing my 3 x Gt Grandfathers parents names it makes things really hard to try and crack this one. Alexander was the first son born to John Whitehead and Agnes in 1809 so was John's Father Alexander? Please Noggin28 if you can help I would be so much appreciated. I do have some credits left for Scotlands People should I need to use them..Please Help The Lady Marion
