Default Help needed - Amelia Timmins

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me with a brickwall! My 2x great grandmother was named Amelia Timmins and she was born in 1857/1858 according to her marriage cert.

She married William Henry Cheetham in 1877 in Cholton on Medlock,Manchester and I have found her on census records with her married name.

I cannot however find any records of her prior to her marriage and was wondering if anybody could find her. I haven't been able to find a record of her birth either. All I know according to the marriage certificate is that her father was Thomas Timmins and he is a Warehouseman.

    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Helen

Thanks Hazelnut, I know there is nothing to be found around the date she was supposedly born....but her ages do correlate throughout the census returns and it does say on the marriage cert she was 19 when she married in 1877

I don't have any info on her family prior to her marriage. All I have is the death cert of one of her children who died in 1884 in chorlton. It says the informant was a Margaret Unsworth (aunt of deceased). I know this wasn't on the dad's side so could have been Amelia's sister but not sure if they used the term 'aunt' loosly in those days!!

In 1871 there is an Amelia Timmins, b 1857, Churchill, Somerset. This is from the index on A.....try. Perhaps someone with a subscription can look it up. I realise Churchill is a long way from Manchester, but as I cannot find a matching entry on BMD, perhaps the birth place is incorrect. Of course she may have been registered in another name. She does not appear to be with her parents. The name of the family with whom she is residing may give a clue.

Sorry for the delay in responding everyone, really appreciate your help. Perhaps the Amelia you have found is my Amelia and she just said she was born in Manchester on later census returns? She is the most difficult person I have come across in my tree so far which you wouldn't expect with what I assume isn't a very common name in Amelia Timmins!!
    Thanks everyone!

    Hello

Have you looked at various ways the name can be spelt, TIMINS, TIMISS etc

HAve a look at the other TIMMINS marriage entry's in the CoM parish registers to see if you can pick up a connection. Lancashirebmd.org.uk, thsi is not complete but may help

1861 cenus RG 9 2865 has a Emelis TIMINS b 1858 MArket Drayton, did her mother become a widow, rematty and the name on Amelia's marriage cert a combination of her father and step father?

    elsabels
