    Default John Lake-help please!

    Hi all,

I'm still on the hunt for John Lake b 1889, Bromley-by-Bow, London, England.

I've struck lucky in that I've had an email mentioning the Australian side of the family!

Is there a kind soul that has access to Australian death records who would be willing to do a search for me please?

    Many Thanks

    Mrsp

Depends on what State in Australia you are looking at Mrsp. If it is NSW, Queensland or WA they can be looked up by anyone free online. Here are the links

NSW deaths are up to 1979

NSW Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages

Also many after that date are on Ryersons Index plus a lot of earlier ones.

    THE RYERSON INDEX

    Queensland are up to 1964

Western Australia are up to 1965

You might find the site below useful if you want to serch for further family members

Archives Office of Tasmania : Name indexes ..Ryersons as posted above by Kate is a very good link to search out for free. I think Ryersons has information on news papers but not sure? The Sydney Morning Herald is another good News Paper for deaths and so on..

Just thought of something here that might help..If you can find out where your Ancestor lived and died the local library of the area might have some historical information on them. I helped a friend of mine who lives in England this very same way. She knew the area where her Grandfather lived in Sydney so I cantacted the Council for the area gave them as much information as I could and they were able to help...In doing this I have helped reunite the family in England and here in Australia..

    Hi Kate and Lady Marion,

Thank you both so much for your replies!

Sadly I have no idea where in Australia he may have gone, if he went at all. Some of the family did. He was in England until the 60s, from what we can gather. It was just a thought as I cannot find a death entry in the UK for him.

    Many thanks again,

    Mrsp

There is a John Lake who died in 1964 in Merrylands New South Wales aged 76 years which fits into his age bracket. No parents names mentioned. Registration No. 5563/1964.

    Hi Kate,

Thanks very much for that! What information would the certificate give me? Would I be able to rule him in or out?

    Many Thanks

If you order through the BDM Office you will pay much more than going to a Transcription Service. With the BDM Office you only get about 5 things on the certificate but a Transcription Agent will give you everything that is on the certificate at a fee of $18 Australia. I will only use a Transcription Agent. Give them as much information as you can including parents names and any middle names for John. There are only 10 John Lake's that died between 1960 and 1979. Five had no middle name listed and the rest have middle names and only 2 have no parents names listed on the Online Index. One is John William and is too young. The other is the one I gave you and states he is 76 years of age. Give the transcription agent the registration number I have quoted also.

Here is the link to the transcription agents. Contact one of them via email and they will help you out.
