Default another appeal re Kier Mc Ilroy

Hi All, Still trying to find the origins of an ancestor by the name of (I think)
Kier McIlroy. I have taken the name from the marriage cert of his son John McIlroy who married Hannah Grizzell in 1848, His name is not terribly clear on the cert it could even be "Kew" His profession is described as Tailor.
His son John puts his birthplace as Exeter Devon On the 1851 census .
I could find no trace of a Mcilroy birth in devon nor any trace of his parents on any census, so unless I can get any further info I am stuck.
I wondered if there could be a connection to Ireland , as there are a lot of Mc Ilroys in the north , but as I dont have a start point I have no idea where to go now ,
Any help that anyone could give would be much appreciated.

    Mollie

I found a this christening for one of John and Hannah's children. There is also another both have Purser.

Sarah Ann Purser Macilroy 05 May 1861
    SAINT THOMAS, BIRMINGHAM, WARWICK
    John Macilroy* and Hannah

    * note spelling. Perhaps this is a family name, might be worth looking into.

I found John and hannah on the 1851, 61, 71, 81 census and they all had John born Exeter.

While looking for Sarah's birth I found another Sarah Ann Macilroy , Father Andrew Mother Elizabeth, 31 JAN 1864 Moreton In Marsh, Gloucester, England This might be worth following up as John was married in Gloucestershire.
'' No one knows who we are or where we are going until we have been and gone ''.

    Researching the following families;
Kitchin & Sharpe, Cumberland, Canada, USA : Dixon, Lancashire, Westmorland, USA
Fell & Hanslow, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, USA Australia.
    Guess, Buckinghamshire : Meakins, Northamptonshire

Thanks Noggin28 , I have traced all of John & Hannahs' eight children , five of whom have the Purser name added , and down to the next generation.
I want to go back if I can to find Johns Father, I have searched the censuses under the names Kier, Kew ( which its how it appears on Johns Marriage cert ) also Hugh , as a soundalike , if whoever registered the Marriage mis heard.
Also I have tried to find out about the Purser connection , wth no luck.
Thanks again for all your help, with this and my other thread, I have struggled with this one for so long it would be good if I could resolve it.
    Regards .
