Thread: Josephine o'brien/ Bryan b1910

can anyone help please.

looking for Josephine Bryan born 8 june 1910 at 147a mill road, U.D. , south everton, liverpool. (think 147 mill road was the hospital)
father: Thomas Bryan of 36 Hardwick Street U.D. (occ. general labourer)
mother: Mary Bryan, formerly BURKE.

marriage 1940 of josephine says:
josephine o'brien, age 26 spinster - father Thomas Patrick O'brien (Occ. Farmer).

I have checked 1911 and there are no bryans or burkes or josephine anywhere ! Have checked for a marriage and cant find that. Birth is registered in west derby 1910 as BRYAN at freebmd but I have that certificate so that doesnt help.
can not find anywhere..... any ideas?

Have you tried looking at the 1911 census using BRIAN ?

Sometimes it DOES work!

yes tried brian. bryan, bryen, brien, o with all spellings, josephines 1910 etc..

have also looked at the address and cant see them there either.

josephine was brought up by nuns and never knew her parents so I am wondering if they were false names !

maybe this is one i will never know!

Was she a nurse / foster child in this household?

she did not remember being with Rooneys, she remembered being brought up by nuns as a strict catholic all her life. she applied for her birth cert in 1936 and was told by a nun that her father was lord of the manor and her mother a servant who was banished when she became pregnant.

foster child sounds plausable !

Never give up hope, just put it at the back of the cupboard...you never know what records /info will be available in a couple of years that may give you the answers your are looking for!

Would it be worth contacting the local convent, they maybe of some help and hold records.
