Thread: Need help with a profession

Hi

I recently received my great great grandparents marriage certificate and it is dated 1907 and states my grandfather as having the profession of what looks like a wire-man or it could be wine-man I am not sure lol. Could any one tell me what a wire man did?

A telegraphist?

Have you looked at 1911 census to see what employment he had and if you are lucky it may show his employer!

Possibly this :- Wire Weaver - Operated power loom to weave wire into industrial cloths, sieves, etc.
