Thread: George Whibley/Wibley

Hi I have been giving a tree in regards to my Whibley side and am having trouble proving who Georges parents are. My tree shows George b 1802 Horsmonden Kent, parents on tree are William Wibley b 1740 and Elizabeth Box. George has a brother Richard b1816.

The problem is my cousin has a tree that shows Georges parents as David Whibley 1739 and Elizabeth ??. The rest of both trees match.

If you check the IGI it gives a George Whibley ch at Horsmonden, Kent on 28/1/1802. This is an extracted record so should be fairly reliable but you best to always check the parish records at the records office or archives.

Conway tree, Whibley tree, France & Ferguson Trees

They all have a Henry Whibley born 28.1.1802 Kent
Parent's David Whibley and Mary Peckham

Hope this hasn't confused things further!

The best idea is to ask where people got all this conflicting evidence from, Have they verified it or have they just guessed?. I have come across many family trees and some can be pure conjecture. Best to check all the facts. It does seem confusing!

Thankyou everyone,the tree I was given is hand written and very hard to read. This is the right George, I have confirmed info and it is great to find mroe bro/sis as all we had was George and Richard. I have found George buried at Horsmonden church since my post. thanks for the help.

I have just found out that there is a generation missing due to the way it was scanned up and passed on. David and Mary are indeed the right parents and William and Elizabeth are the grandparents. Thanks Noggin28 you have found 10 children we didnt have. Thanks to all for your time
