    Default 1901 occupation please!

Hi, I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to look up an occupation in the 1901 census please? I only have a transcription (which makes no sense at all - says 'Seaveug Er'!), but I have not seen the original. I'm hoping that it might be clear enough to read?
    The gentleman is :

Evan Gravenor, age 62, Dysart Terrace, Canal Road, Llanllwchaiarn, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.
    Ref - RG13 5196 126 page 24 schedule no. 165

    Thank you!

    Hi Gravenor,

To me it looks like Seaveng er. A couple of folios on there is one that looks like Scaveng er. Maybe it is meant to be Scavenger and the person writing it did not join the er to te rest of it. On this folio there is also a Jane Gravenor. This is just my reading of it though.

Many thanks for looking this up for me Starlight.
Evan was a gardener in 1891 and a brewery labourer before that in 1881, so 'Scavenger' seems very possible as he entered his 60s!
    Yes, Jane was his wife.
    Thanks again for your help,
    Gravenor

Thank you, Chohrge, for your suggestion.
I'd not heard of a 'scavelman' before - it certainly seems possible as Evan lived very close to the Newtown canal!
