Looking for information on the following: (excerpt from 1953 transcript from ancestor)
Samuel Lundy Sr. was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 13th, 1800. He was the oldest of four brothers. At an early age, he joined the British Army, and in due course received a Commission. He saw service in the Mediterranean Area, at the time of the British defence of the Dardanelles, and it was while he was located with his unit somewhere between Spain and Italy, that he met his bride.
On October 1st, 1824, he married Ann Qua, of Italian parents. She was born March 1st, 1797. Following his army service, they settled on a small grant of land in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Here their family of seven children was born:
John, born August 3rd, 1825; Sarah, October, 1827; James August 28, 1829;
Hugh, March 16, 1831; Ann Jane, August 20, 1833; Robert, February 8, 1835;
Archibald, May 3rd, 1837.
In March, 1840, the family emigrated to America, Their Atlantic crossing, in the sailing vessel "The Quilton Leach", took them six weeks and four days. This vessel sank with all her crew on the return trip.
We have no information on where Ann Qua was born.
Any information on the birth records or army record for Samuel would be appreciated. If anyone can direct me to online databases I would greatly appreciate it as I am in Canada. I have not found birth records on ancestry which I have a subscription to.
Thank you Lori
