Hi Norton
In the Post Office Directory of Cambs, Norfolk and Suffolk 1869 Roderick Elphinstone is listed as Blue Boar Publican and Rose Grower.
1871 Census lists him at the Blue Boar as Nurseryman and Publican (no mention of Blacksmith)
The Bury & Norwich Post 16th July 1878 and 19th July 1879 he is listed as a judge at the annual exhibition of the Diss Horticultural Society, but there are no details of his home address.
No mention of him being a Blacksmith on 1871 census as I recall.![]()

There has been a public house on this site since around 1750 but the original building was demolished in 1953 to widen the Wroxham Road and the current Blue Boar was built further back.
