Thread: Looking for my adopted sister

Hi everyone, brand new here and a bit nervous! Complicated story so I'll try to keep it brief!

Last year I found out I have a half sister, born a few years before I was when my Dad was with his first wife (not my Mum). My Dad and I weren't in touch at all and last year he died (it was actually at the funeral that i found out about this sister!), and his mother - my Grandma - died a few weeks later, leaving me and my aunt the only remaining members of that side of the family and she apparently knows nothing.

I decided that I wanted to find my half sister and managed to get a copy of her birth certificate, but the certificate says she's been adopted.

I've managed to find a marriage record for my half sister's mum so I have an idea of her adopted surname but that's all and now I'm completely at a dead end.

I imagine there are security things in place to stop people finding adopted people but can anyone advise where I can go from here?!
