    Default Alfred John Hearn

    I am trying to find out information about my Great Grandfather Alfred John Hearn

    He was born 28/01/1872 in Great Warley, Romford to a Charles Hearn and Maria Clara Hearn nee Hall. However I have never been able to find him on a census until he appears on the 1911 one. I can find his parents and other siblings as they move around the country with their parents who are involved in the hotel/inn/theatre trade. The only mention I have of him is in a newspaper article from February 7, 1891 where he is mentioned as Assistant Manager to his Father at the Hanley Theatre of Variety. I know that he gets married to a Margaret Hogg in Northumberland on 23/03/1896 and my Grandfather John Hogg Hearn was born in Blyth on the 27/09/1898. I would love to know where he was for those missing years

    Thanks

    1881

    Could this be Alfred on the census as Authur aged 9 months, the other details seems to fit.

    Class: RG11; Piece: 2247; Folio: 90; Page: 16;

    1891 is proving to be a bit of a problem, a couple of boarders that could be him, will keep looking.

    I never thought about them being in Scotland at the time of the 1901 census, In 1911 they are in the Lake District and by the 1920's they have moved to Lancashire. Alfred was a Insurance Agent in 1911 so he could have moved with work.

    Thanks I will pop to the library tomorrow and have a look at Ancestry

    The Scotland census, via Ancestry, does not have an option to view images, if you want to save yourself a journey to the library, pm me, and I can send what is available online.

    Also for the 1881.
