Thread: Help with sort of brick wall

Thomas Goodchild married Mary Martin Arter at St.Deny's Church Chilworth Hampshire 12 OCT 1797.

Mary Martin Arter was baptised 2 Jul 1781 Michaelmersh, Hampshire. Only her mother's name was given at her baptism which was Mary Arter.

Buried in the same grave as Thomas and Mary is a Mary Martin.
Who is Mary Martin ? There is no one with this surname on Thomas' side of the tree but the surname Martin is common in Chilworth.
According to an article at the records office Thomas was instrumental in the laying of the foundation stone of St.Deny's Church but according to Wikipedia the Church was rebuilt in 1812.
Apart from finding someone that can go to the graveyard and see when Mary Martin died, has anyone any other idea how I can find out who she was. I know the grave stone was moved to the outside boundary about 10 years ago and I am not sure how clear the writing is now.

Mary's mother did not have the name Martin and had remarried before her death. What I am looking for is idea's where to look further to find the proof.
