The birth certificate will give you his mother's maiden name. With regard to his death do you have any idea how old he was when he died? It would help in pin pointing his death as there are an awful lot of John Fleetwoods who died in Liverpool in the 20th century.

if so note his fathers birth is down as 1856 ie a bit later than you thought. this could be important because there is one born 1853 and another born 1856. and a few others born near
in 1881 here are the two johns . firstly the later one which i think might be yours father . the reason i think this might be yours is that he is a carter which might fit with son becoming one and actually just noticed they are living at same address as 1891 census.

this fits with a marriage of a john fleetwood to elizabeth hanson found and the mother in law living with them.

Welshlady just beat me to it with the Census details and the John Fleetwood/Elizabeth Hanson marriage.
I have checked the Deaths Index and found the following
John Fleetwood age 79 June 1934 W. Derby vol 8b page 346
I think this is John the father. His age fits with the ages given in the Censuses
I can't find a John Fleetwood born 1890 dying in Liverpool in the 1930's but I have found one in Doncaster
John Fleetwood age 48 Mar 1938 Doncaster vol 9c page 920

Thanks for that,I await the marriage certificate of my G/parents,The address of gascoyne street is correct from old letters my mother once had.My mother's marriage certificate show's her father has private quarry carter(deceased) and that was in 1947 her marriage,she always stated that he died in the 30's before the war,so I based my research around that.
