Thread: First Spouse of James Charles Egerton

Although I am not new to ancestry unfortunately I have hit a brickwall, as we all do at times.

I am seeking info on James Charles Egerton's first wife. I know James was born in 1900 in Staffordshire

By the time he married my grandmother in Macclesfield Cheshire in 1950 he was a widow according to their

marriage certificate.

James Charles Egerton died in 1970 in Norfolk, did he marry again after he left my grandmother in the 1950's.

I know he wasn't with my grandmother when I used to stop at her house in 1957.

If any member can help find his first wife that would be great.

theres a lot of possible marraiges on freebmd if you click all counties from 1916-1950 , or click cheshire and norfolk.

The only james c. Egerton marraige i found was sept qtr 1933 Dartford Laura Martin vol 2a page 2310, like i said theres possible marraiges for James and Charles without the initial , worth taking a look.

On ancestry theres a public tree ( Phillips) with his parents as Charles and Agnes

Hi Hazelnut and milford_lass, thankyou both for your replies I forgot to mention that my step grandfather's address before he married my grandmother was given on the certificate as Cauldon, Staffordshire. So I was looking for a marriage

around Staffs, Cheshire region. As you say there was alot of marriages for a James Egerton without the C.

By the way the Phillips Family tree is mine.
