Hi,



I'm trying to find more information on my gggrandfather, Henry Beecher, born around 1813 in England(place unknown)and immigrated to the US before 1840, settling in Appling County, Georgia.



Family stories indicate he sailed from an unknown port in England to the port of Darien, Georgia, but so far I am unable to document this.



He first appears in the US on the 1840 Federal Census, married to Margaret Lucinda HAGAN and having one male child under 5 years. Subsequent censuses indicate his birthplace as England and occupations as school teacher and farmer.



Undocumented sources indicate he may have been born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire to a John BEACHER and Jane CORBY BEACHER. Other sources cite his parents as Henry BEECHER and Margarett RODGERS.



Any help would be appreciated.
