HI, I wonder if anyone would be able to help, for the last 2yrs on Mothers day and Christmas there has been someone going to the grave of our parents,it is our mum that this person is leaving flowers and a card,my sister Wendy has just been to put some flowers on for Easter and she told me she had left the other flowers there, but had read the card and it has on it to mum, some of the words in the verse were about you are missed more than you know,My mum was called Glady's Hillier(maiden name Roach)born 7th Feb/1922,my eldest sister June, born June 1941/myself Nov 1946/ my father was in the forcesso he would be home when I was born ( I think)it is driving us mad to think that there may be another sibling that we have never known,I know it may mean that mum had another child whilst dad was away, but we are wondering if by putting these flowers and a card for 2yrs now if someone wants us to know, some help or advice would be most welcome, thankyou,,

    Hi valjay,

Do you visit the grave on your mum's birthday and is her date of birth on the stone. Could the flowers have been put on the wrong grave.

Hi starlight thankyou for your reply.

Im Wendy Vals sister. I cant remember to tell you the truth if the birthdate is on the grave stone I dont think it is. We have thought about whether someone has the wrong grave but not sure what to do really. I have thought about leaving a note pinned to the card which was left asking who the person is who is leaving the cards and flowers but have'nt done so as yet.

Iv also thought that maybe mum had had a child when she was younger before she and dad were married or even that she was expecting a child and decided to be with my dad instead of the other partner and my dad possibly new about it and she had to give the child up to marry him, theres alot of maybe's.....

There has been a card left for 2-3 yrs now at the grave but nothing before that. I might try the hospitals in salford to see if there is any record of my mums name and any children born to her before she married dad.

Any other ideas or help from AA would be very welcome.

    Thankyou

Im not sure but i think curiosity would get the better of me and the next time i think this woman is due a visit to my mums grave i'd wait and then approach her and just ask if she has the right person ,as shes your mum.

Maybe then you'd get the truth.
    Do you recognise her ?

Pj had a point, maybe she was an evacuee, that your mum cared for.

Thanks for the replies everyone,we don't actually know if it is a woman, and I think if it would have been an evacuee or something like that I don't think it would be such a mystery, I wondered if it was possible to get any information from the register of illegitimate children, would anyone know that,

    Hello

If flowers and a card are left is there a florists name and address?

Have you enquired with the cemetary operators to see if they have a note of anyone making enquiries about the grave.... we all know what it is like in a graveyard looking for a particular grave ....

Why not leave a contact number of yourselves ( not your names for security reasons)so the person may contact you if they wish.....

There is of course the In touch in the MEN on a Saturday evening

    Hi Valjay & Wendy,

My mother-in-law used to visit her mother's grave each week. It was in a fenced plot with flower bulbs and a red rose bush. Cut flowers from her garden were added each week. As she got older, the visits became less often. One day, she arrived to find an unknown lady weeding the plot and putting fresh flowers and a card there. The lady explained why and asked if it was ok to continue doing so.

I starting writing this post last week but scrubbed it hoping that my husband would remember the reason when he awoke. He does remember it happening but can't remember the reason she gave but it was a good reason. As my mother-in-law is now deceased, there is only one other person that may remember the reason but unfortunately I won't be seeing her until Christmas.

Although it doesn't mean your case will be the same, it does show that it can happen. If I can find out before then, I will get back to you.

Elsabels, we have been thinking of leaving a message, and that is a good idea to try to ask the cemetary officials if anyone has made enquiries about the grave, I am not sure whether they still have an office at Agecroft though,Thankyou,

Starlight, I will look forward to hearing the reason myself, and it is possible we know that someone could have the wrong grave.it will be Christmas again too before it happens again so we will see what we can do..Thankyou too.
