    I have trouble reading the handwriting no matter how I adjust the image. If possible would greatly appreciate the more experience here on AA could help decipher the handwriting.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks, Hazelnut.

    Ancestry has the initial transcribed as H, but it didn't look like that to me. As for the others. I can't read them very well.

    Hi kptz;

    I find that if you look at other entries on the same page and possibly on adjacent pages, you may be able to figure out the handwriting. The initial letter you are trying to figure out for eg, look for first names or surnames starting with that letter.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello Al,

    I tried that - my problem is that I cannot adjust the image well enough to really see the letters clearly. I was hoping that someone with more experience at reading this kind of record and handwriting would have a better idea.

    Thanks for the advice. I will keep working at it.

    I can't find the 1861 entry using your refs. Isn't 1861 RG9?

    1841 Mary is Mary do. meaning Mary Ditto (") ie same surname as the person above, which looks like Leary.
