    Hi

    I wonder if anyone can help I am looking for info from the Canadian censuses after 1919. I am looking for a Susan McCrea/McCrae she was born about 1886 she has two sons Archibald born Glasgow Scotland 1907 and William born Glasgow Scotland 1910. They emigrated to Canada in 1919 they sailed to Montreal, Quebec.

    Any help would be great thanks

    I believe Canada operates the 100 year rule and the latest census available is 1911.
    '' No one knows who we are or where we are going until we have been and gone ''.

    Researching the following families;
    Kitchin & Sharpe, Cumberland, Canada, USA : Dixon, Lancashire, Westmorland, USA
    Fell & Hanslow, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, USA Australia.
    Guess, Buckinghamshire : Meakins, Northamptonshire

    Census data courtesy & Copyright, of the UK National Archives

    Hi Louise,

    The last available census for Canada is for 1911 except for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta which was in 1916.

    Have you managed to get further information on this family now as the place of birth of Archibald and his destination have changed :-

    Hi

    That makes sense i was getting confused with the U.S.

    I have come across quite alot about my Archibald McCrea i found out he married and died in Glasgow as a down and out which i had been told he was. I turns out he did not emmigrate to the U.S but his wife left him and emmigrated with their children Archibald and William in 1919 they traveled from Liverpool to Montreal. I don't know if they stayed in Canada or went on to the U.S but i couldn't find them on U.S census's unless i am missing something. His wife was called Susan McCrea nee Armstorng and was born about 1886 maybe in Ireland i can't find her on scotland's people i have checked all the Susan Armstrongs. and their childeren Archibald was born in Glasgow in 1906 and William in Glasgow in 1910.

    I seem to get so far then get stuck again plus every certificate i find spells the name either McCrea/McCrae i wish they just made their mind up on how they wanted to spell it lol.

    Thanks Louise

    Hi all;

    Canadian Census are released every 92 years, the next census to be released is 1921 and should be released in 2013. There are a few special censuses, 1906 & 1916 for the prairie provinces. The Newfoundland censuses are available up to 1945.

    Hi Louise;

    Here's an alternate to census, Montréal City Directories. The first link is in French (well the website is, mostly, the info in the directories is mostly English), but I'm sure you can stumble through or use Google's website translation, the second is Steve MORSE's site for searching in one step.

    http://bibnum2.bnque...vell/index.html http://stevemorse.or...l/montreal.html

    I hope these can help.

    Thanks for that Al. Only 3 more years and I might get some answers on my maternal grandfather.
