Hi All



Trying to find info on a Joseph Midgley born 1877 in Scarborough. From a postcard dated 1916 sent to his nephew by his sister Maud i believe that he could have been in the Hull area in 1916. I have him on the 1881/1891 census but unable to find him on the 1901.

I can't see a likely candidate in 1901. Perhaps he was in the army, fighting in the Boer War, or at sea?

I don't think this is the right Joseph as my Joseph has no middle name.

I can find Joseph's parents George & Mary on the 1901 census, have you found any of the family on the 1911 census?

Found Joseph's parents on the 1911 census but nothing on Joseph.

I can find nothing on him, was there a brother William , who lived in London, if so I found him still single......



Can only presume AWOL at census date.....if he was Hull way was he a fisherman or something connected with travel overseas? I know there were whalers operating from the east coast.



Try checking with www.hullcc.gov.uk who hold these type of records



The other thougth, whilst Joseph appears to have one Forename it is interesting that the other brothers have 2, maybe when he was baptised he was given another name...only theory but then maybe Joseph C marriage etc maybe worth looking at!
