    Hello

As you will appreciate SMITH, is not an easy name to pick up on!

I can find at least 2 James Frederick b 1905 in London both in the q4 Oct / Dec do you have any other family info, like siblings, the

    full forenames will do?

You then say Jas F married Gladys Mary SMITH is this her correct maiden name? Again I cannot pick up a SMITH =SMITH in the London area in 1930, so a bit more about her siblings may be useful.....

    Same as Noggin 28

Is Gladys Mary Smith her maiden name or married name? With a name like Smith we will need a bit more info. Do you know what part of London? If you know he married in 1930 why not get the marriage cert which will at least give his fathers name.
'' No one knows who we are or where we are going until we have been and gone ''.

Noting your other post re: your Grandfather’s death in Greenwich registration district 1981.

This is a possible death record for him

    Name: James Frederick Smith

    Birth Date: 18 Dec 1905

    Death Registration

    Month/Year: 1981

    Registration district: Greenwich

    Inferred County: Greater London

    Volume: 12 Page: 0890

There is a Baptism record for 19th September 1906 at St. Luke Deptford which lists the birth of James Frederick Smith as 18 December 1905 – his parents are James Frederick Smith and Gertrude Annie living 25 Junction Road – Occupation of father “Hammersmith”.

If all of the above is relevant to your James, then your grandfather’s parents were James Frederick Smith and Gertrude Annie Mills who married as follows

    Name: Gertrude Annie Mills

    Living 41, Lucy Road

    Age: 21

    Estimated birth year: abt 1884

Spouse Name: James Frederick Smith (Occupation - Hammerman)

    Living 30 Enid Street

    Spouse Age: 22

    Record Type: Marriage

    Event Date: 1 Oct 1905

Parish: St James, Bermondsey County: Middlesex

    Borough: Southwark

Father Name: Joseph Richard Mills (Occupation – Labourer)

Spouse Father Name: Charles Frederick Smith (Occupation – Wardrobe Dealer)

Witnesses: Arthur Hamlin and Hannah Smith

Going back to the 1930 marriage, if Smith is not your grandmother’s maiden name then a possible record is

    Name: James F Smith

    Spouse: Gladys M Broad

    Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1930

    Registration district: Malling

    Registration county (inferred): Kent

Volume Number: 2a Page Number: 2081
