After searching everywhere to find any thing more than a birth for Millie E hargreaves born Lewisham 1920 I came across Mellora E hargreaves married a Richard Fiore in Lewisham in1944 is there any way I can find out if this is the same person with a name change. I cant find a birth for Mellora so thats what makes me think it could be the same person.

You could use the refer below to get the marriage cert and cross ref the fathers name.

    Hi Jayne

I think your hunch is right but getting the marriage cert with Millie/Mellora's name on it should confirm/deny it. Lots of brides in my and my husband's family tree seem to have changed their names to something grander on their marriages. I have an Annie who becomes Elizabeth Anne, a Rose who becomes Rosella etc.

If it is the same person I don't think it will help to get the marriage certificate as Millies father died in 1939, 5 years before the marriage so he will not be on the certificate

    Hello

I have pm'd you as this person may still be living.

The marriage register entry quite clearly shows MELLORA E so it is unlikely that the actual cert will show anything different.

What I have sent you gives the forname associated with the E, so it is probably the birth cert of Millie E that will help you decide if the person has adopted a new first name this will also give you her fathers name!

The marriage cert would confim the father's name...so unless what I have found helps, it looks like 2 certs
