    I am trying to find information about my great grandfather and great, great grandfather of Blackburn, Lancashire, England, but have come to something of a standstill with regards their possible visits to the USA.

    'William Roy Hamer' is obviously a fairly unusual name, and I found the following very unexpectidly, as I did not realise he had ever left England;

    HAMER ? ? UK CL0001

    William Roy Hamer

    This was on the roots web website, obviously it doesn’t give much information, and sadly I dont get a reply from the person who uploaded the data. Does anyone know what it might mean, as it was on a board about imigration to the USA.

    My main question however is about someone called Abraham Hamer, born in Boston USA in 1866. On the 1901 & 1911 Census he was living in Blackburn Lancashire, close to several of my other Hamer relatives. Which leads me to believe he may be related. My great grandfather John Hamer went to the USA for several years in around 1871, so I am trying to find if there is a link.

    It looks as though Abraham Hamer married Ann ? around 1892 according to the 1911 census. Im struggling to locate a marriage in this country, so it looks like he came to England between 1892 and 1901.

    I cant help thinking there may be a connection between John Hamer and Abraham Hamer.

    Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this, and if anyone has access to USA census/marriage or ship records which might give more info about Abraham Hamer.

    Thank you so much for any help with my jigsaw!

    Regards

    David.
