    Hi Chris,

I have just trawled the Acle registers and the only Drake is John George bap Jan 7th 1831.

The Norfolk registers are only browsable not searchable so its quite a long haul.

    Hi Chris

Following on from other members’ posts – Just trying to establish a timeline of where Spencer was at any one time – I have him in the Norwich Poll book for 1818 living in St. Julian, Norwich – Drake, Spencer R.N.

Re: His naval career, Spencer was promoted to Lieutenant in 1828 – the year of Fredric’s birth and in newspapers of the time he is reported as being appointed in the September to HMS Revenge. Is it possible that Frederic was born overseas? I wonder. I’ve checked the marine births but nothing I’m afraid.

Thank -you Elsebels the book you mentioned i purchased some time back , the information they gave on Spencer Jr. past isnt quite correct . as yet no proof at all that he was related to Sir Francis Drake as yes his father was a naval man but not his grandparents ect.

My problem with tree on drakes is this were was brother Frederick 1828 and sister Eliza Charlotte 1826. born.

Also his grandfather Robert Drake who wed Charlotte Spencer Norwich , he was a miller died while Charlotte was pregnant with Spencer . I know Robert had a sister Phillis who wed a chap Shingles ,she died 1836 at Acle Norfolk .

These are what ive been trying to find out to take tree further back.

I had added to curious fox a few years back for help sadly nothing , I found Spencers only brothers death ect. Robert Spencer Drake .

www.wellbank.net Parish of Heigham? havnt seen this though will have to google books . Thank -you for thinking of my tree
