Thread: Mulcahy Mystery

I'm looking for the parents of a John J Mulcahy. John was born in Troy, New York, USA in abt. 1855. According to the town clerk office his parents names are Michael Mulcahy and Julie (or Julia) Craven. Both are listed as being born in Ireland. Eventually I would like to be able to trace this line back to somewhere in Ireland in particular. I really would like to find out what part of Ireland my family is from.



I cannot find Michael or Julie in any records, other than the death record of John Mulcahy, their son. Can anyone help?

I am not sure if Michael and Julie/Julia were married in the US or in Ireland. I do know that their son John was born in Troy, NY and that John J married Cecilia Slattery, who was born in New York as well. They lived in Hoosick Falls, NY and later North Adams MA. I know that John J Mulcahy died in 1930 in Northampton, MA and he and Cecilia were both buried in St. Mary's in Hoosick Falls.



St Mary's cemetery in Hoosick Falls gave me the date of John's death and the location (Northampton, MA)

The town clerk of Northampton said that John's parents were listed as Michael Mulcahy and Julie Craven.



This is all I know.
