Thread: Decam - any help appreciated!

I have recently found that the surname Deeam that I have been having a lot of trouble with, could in fact be Decam. Ann Decam or Deeam married Jonah Wilson in London in 1807. She was resident in London at the time. She was born in 1778. I am curious to know of her family history. Is Decam a Huguenot name? Any info would be good!!

I haven't come across Decam before. The IGI has one Belgian entry with this name and a lot of Dacom/be entries for England.



There are hardly any entries for Decam on ancestry.co.uk so I am guessing that this name was spelt differently and your version is an alternative (unless its a mistake for Deam). Do you have any reason for expecting her to be a Hugenot?

It's the only Decam marriage on ancestry's London marriages dataset, so makes me think its an error. The image does look like it says Deeam, but maybe it was Deacon?
