I would like to find the birth and family of Walter Newman.Walter married Beatrice E Bayliss 06 Jan 1917 Hampstead London.Age was 44 so born abt 1873 and father was Edwin Joseph Newman a builder who was deceased.Walter's occupation was waiter.

there's a Walter D. Newman aged 6 with family living in Bloomsbury, London. Father is Edwin, a painter. It's possible Edwin changed professions, or that Walter bigged him up on his marriage cert. But can't be at all sure this is him and can't find a likely Walter at all in 1901.

Found a baptism for the above Walter at St Philips Clerkenwell



He was baptised Walter Daniel Newman 4 July 1880 together with his sister Annie Beatrice. Walter's birthdate 1st June 1874 and Annie's 12 Apr 1862. Parents Edwin Newman, a painter, & Anne. Address: 6 Guildford Street East, which is where they are in 1881.



And this is the birth reg ref for this Walter - though no proof its YOUR Walter of course.

Thanks Helen.That looks like him but I will do some research to prove it. One witness(male) is a nephew of the bride and the other(female) I assume is a friend of the bride.So no help there.

Some more research.The father of the groom in the 1897 marriage is the same as my Walter Daniel Newman.

The 1897 marriage to Jane King has Walter's occupation as butler (Jane is a domestic servant) and his father Edwin Joseph is deceased, his occupation plumber.
