Thread: Really tough problem

I am having real trouble finding my grandfather Fred Roberts. The problem is that he and my granmother never married.

My grandmother is Edith Holmes, b1889, Shelf, Halifax. In 1910 Edith married Albert Rhodes and the 1911 census shows them living at Low Moor, Bradford. Sometime after 1911 she seperated from Albert and in 1918 had a daughter, Annie Roberts. Again in 1919 she had a second daughter, Nellie Roberts and in 1921 she had my mother, Eileen May Roberts. My mother's birth certificate shows her mother as Edith Rhodes formerly Holmes and her father as Fred Roberts, Millwright, living at 19 Shelf Moor, Shelf, Halifax. As they were never married there is no marriage certificate to determine Fred's details and the 1921 census is not yet available.



CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE. I just need some info on Fred so I can trace him back.

Have you got Fred's death cert? That would give his age, so a rough birthyear. Or your grandmother's (Fred might have been the informant).



Does Annie Roberts' birth cert name Fred as her father and if so what is his occupation?
