I have the death certificate of my father, a certain Bernard Saphra who lived in Islington, Greater London.
Under Column 7 Heading "Signature, description and residence of informant"
is the following text:
"John R, Cawthorne
Causing the body to be buried
Royal Northern Hospital,
Holloway Road, N.7"
Notes and clues
1. The syntax is exact and the word "in" is not used following the word "buried".
2. The death occurred in 1963 and this hospital was demolished in the mid 1990s to make way for flats etc.
3. In column 5 is "occupation unknown"
So my questions are:
Does this mean he was buried actually IN the hospital grounds ?
If he was buried in the hospital grounds, what would have happened to his remains during/after the hospital demolition ?
...or could there be some other explanation ?
