Thread: war brides

Hi ,

I was wondering if war brides going to Canada from the UK ,are registered on the regular passenger lists.

I am trying to locate the list for my fathers first wife to Canada, and also the return of same person , along with my half sister.



Mid 1940's

Joyce maud PONTING , maiden name Jefferies , Husband Harry Ponting



Then probably late 1940's

Joyce Maud PONTING and Sandra Ponting , child.

My mum's cousin was a war bride - but she married in Canada so travelled out under her maiden name, contrary to what my mum remembered!

Hi Jewel.

My dads and his first wife definetly married in England,the marriage is transcribed on his milatary record,the event took place in Tottenham, I cant fing a record for any of her arrivals either in canada,or the UK.
