Thread: Frings & Scarfes

Hi and a Happy New Year to you all!

I would really love some help in trying to trace the Frings and Scarfe families.

My Gt Grandmother was Florence Scarfe, she married Charles Richardson around 1916. Her parents were Wilhelmina Frings and Frank Thomas Scarfe. I know nothing much of Frank.

Wilhelmina's parents were Thirza Matthews and John Frings, who at the time of the 1881 census was in Lewes Prison as a criminal prisoner, I would like to know what his crime was?

John's mother was also called Wilhelmina, she was born in Germany, so I have no idea about her either.

Am dearly hoping someone out there can help me.

www.timesonline.co.uk archive dated 02/12/1875 has an entry about John FRINGS ...obtaining a pair of trouser.....false pretences......to read the full transcript requires the purchase of a day pass for £4.95, this is around the time Wilhelmina was born, so it is likley that each time he was out of prison? another child was conceived?



The latest child Ernest is probably reg as Charles Jos in 1881

HERBERT FRINGS could be the anglicised version of HERMANN



NASSAM is actually NASSAU germany



Put these together and there is info on Ancestry related to a Hermann FRINGS, sadly I do not have a subscription that allows me to view.
