    Happy New year to all...

After all the hustle and bustle of Christmas it is good to be settled again !!

My thoughts go to people in UK and Scotland with that dreadful weather..

Keep cosy and warm if you can. while we here in NZ are out at the beaches sunning ourselves ...

Wish we could send you some of our sunshine.

I love the new design of 'Ancestryaid'

A great job done by the Webmaster. It is very 'classy' !!

I had trouble logging in ! Possibly me at fault there...!

    NOW....

I am hoping someone can help me here.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME.. (WHERE TO LOOK, OR IF)....

My parents, Alfred (a Tailor b/1893 Glasgow) and Martha (Meta) Mary Watson Robertson (b/1893 Lenzie Scotland) plus my elder sister Mary Louise Elizabeth (b/1917 Glasgow), came to NZ.

The traveled Glasgow UK/USA aboard the "Carmania" via New York... in April 1919.

Can anyone tell me if they were assisted passage from Scotland to NZ. OR... How I can find out if they were..

    ALSO...

The TRAVEL From New York to New Zealand passage, which I presume would be shortly after they landed in NY.

As according to the details I have they were down as 'in transit' While I know they visited Boston, I gather, didn't stay for long.

My Mother.(Martha Mary W Robertson aged 34), Mary Louisa (aged 11), and Beatrice Margaret (aged 8) went back to Scotland via Southampton in 1928 on the "Tamaroa"

My Father was NOT with them on that journey.

I would appreciate if anyone could help me with details of this travel.

My Father (Alfred Robertson) travel to Scotland fron New Zealand.. between 1928 - 1929?.

AND ALSO.. THE FAMILY RETURNING TO NZ..possibly 1929/30

They were in NZ in 1933 as I was born then.

I have had a look at Ellis Is and a few others, but they seem to me to be mainly to USA. I was unsure as to how to look, being very much a novice at Researching.

Can anyone help me with this please?.

I picked up thsi website that may start you off! It mentions assisted passages from the mid 19thC and may complement the info you already have.

Elsabels, Thank you for that info.

Unfortunately the dates of the NZ ones are too early they go from 1850 to basically 1888,(for some regions) and I want information of 1919.

I had a thought that there might be something held in Scotland/Glasgow that would tell me, as that is where they came from. I sthere anything there do you, or anyone have knowledge of ?

Wellington it says is where these NZ records are held, and is a long way from me to go on the ofchance,

(but the Library site does say only those dates 1800 - 1888 that I could see),

I would still like information on their travels, if anyone can assist me with this,

My Father to Scotland from NZ between (late 1928 ...1930/1/2 ? ..)

then all of them back to NZ if that is possible. which would I think be about 1930/1/2.

There are several entry's that fit the family on New York Passenger list 1820 - 1957

sadly i do not have a subscription to this part of Ancestry.co.uk, they do however have a 14 day freetrial and a PAyasyouGO deal for 14 views....maybe worth the investment!

    Thanks Ilsabels,

Apologies for not getting back sooner, but I have had a knee op and the computer was sadly put aside.

Yes, I have that info. Thanks tho..

I haven't Ancestry either, but maybe there is someone in your group who has ?

    I am after the following........

    A) my Mother, father and Mary Louisa from USA to NZ which would be after April 1919 as that is when they were

in New York, and I don't think they stayed long.

Father from NZ to UK and or Scotland possibly about 6 months or a year after Mother and two girls went back

    in july 1928..

    C) All of them....Mother,Father & 2 girls (Mary Louise & Beatrice Margaret) from Scotland (UK ?) to possibly

    Christchurch (Lyttleton) around 1929 -1931)??

Unfortunately the NZ site... which is our Library do not have that far forward. Their details stop at 1890 or there abouts... as far as I could see.

    Thanks a million..

I will try them both and see what I can find.

Well.... I have had a look.

The first one only goes to 1910 ... to early for me. This seems to be the pattern with a lot of the shipping sites. Seldom is there anything past 1900.

The second gives me all Australian. No luck there either.

I am presuming that your comment regarding 'researcher' is on here, as the other. second one..only took me through to Ancestry free trial, which I am a bit reluctant to join at the moment..

I know it is only 14 days free trial, but I am unsure of the time I would be able to spend on here at the moment to warrant it (and I would probably forget !)
