Thread: 1891/1901 Look up please Sarah Tautz

Hi,

Would someone kindly help me to find Sarah (Ann) Tautz born in St.Pancras about 1837 in 1891/1901 censuses please. She was widowed in 1878 and I am hoping that she didn't re-marry, making it easier to find her in both censuses, I have her in 1881 census where she is living at 44 Upper Rathbone Place and has 2 daughters living with her, Emma aged 9 and Louisa age 12 both born in Southwark, Surrey.

It appears Sarah Ann remarried in 1889.



She either married Marsden Innes Knight or Joseph Osman. I'm just in the process of checking the censuses for you.

Sarah Ann married Marsden Innes Knight. He died in 1892. Here they are on 1891 census. No Emma or Louisa, though. Not having much luck in tracing her after 1891.

If you PM me your email address, I can send original image of the census. I've gone back to have a look at Marsden's occupation and he was some kind of clerk, but I can't make out what.



In answer as to why he has Innes, as a name, I would guess that it was originally a surname, perhaps his mother's maiden name. For example, in my tree, I have a Richard Marshall Lewis- Marshall was his mother's maiden name.



Incidently, I have found Marsden on the 1851 census at the Royal Asylum of the St Anns Society. Here is a link with information about it if you are interested. http://www.redhill-reigate-history.c...Anne's.htm



The only possible birth record I can find for Marsden, is that of a Marsden James Knight in 1841. However, both the marriage and death record for him say Marsden Innes Knight!



I've just found him on the 1841 census. His parents appear to be Samuel and Maria Knight. Above them on the census is a William and Mary Innes!!!
