You should be able to search either surname. You might find you get a choice of 1 or 2 spouses so there is still some work to sort it out. If you are unsure why not post and ask for the name to be searched.

You don't get a choice at all.
There are no fields which offer you a choice.
I don't understand what you mean when you say you don't get a choice. You either enter the groom's name or the bride's. There is no requirement to specify whether it is the groom or the bride you are looking for.

You're saying enter either the bride OR the groom's surname.
So this implies that the marriage is cited twice ?
Can you just confirm this ?
These are the marriage reg for my Grandparents. If you find one you can use the reg to get the marriage cert to find the spouse. After 1911/12 the spouses surname is shown on the registration for England and Wales.

Yes the marriage will be cited twice, once in ther groom's name and once in the bride's.
