Thread: 1851 census lookup Edwin Charles Earley

Looking for Edwin Charles Earley/Early



could someone please check the 1851 census for John Earley/Earley I am hoping that he will have a 3 year old Son Edwin Charles .( This will confirm the link between John and Edwin Charles)



This is the family in 1841 which Elizabells and Bandit very kindly looked up for me.

I've found an Edwin C Earley/Early on the 1851 and 1861 census-although looking at the original images, they have been transcribed wrongly-it's definately a 'C'!



His family doesn't match with the 1841 census found though, so you will have to see what you think.

Now my problem is trying to find Edwin's Grandfather John Earley or Early

I estimate he would be about 47-50 years old in 1851

I think I may be jumping the gun a bit.

I first need to find Edwin C 's Father (John Earley)date of birth.



John Earley was married on 12th July 1846 to Sarah Ann Bruce and I have a copy of his marriage certificate.he was a minor and a tobaconist living in Bunhil Row.

two years later in 1848 they gave birth to Edwin C and they were living at 2 Sandys Row Bishopsgate



The problem is I cannot find John's DOB anywhere



I think I need that before I can go another generation back to Edwin's Grandfather (who is also called John)



If I could only find a reference to Edwin's Father John Earley I could probably link to Edwin's Grandfather.



crikey this is getting complicated



How would you suggest I go about tracing John Earley ?



did the 1841 and 1851 census show how old John Earley and Sarah Ann were ?

In 1851, John was 24 and in 1861 he was 35. What was his age on the marriage certificate you have and does it state his father's name on it?



I haven't got a certificate dating back that early, so I'm not sure what information was given on them.

Hi Mrsp

on John's marriage certificate it doesn't state his age I think I saw somewhere else that it was 1825 He is listed as 'minor' ,

profession tobaconist and his Father's name was also John Earley (profession Wharfinger)I have posted an image of it on another thread . I'll see if I can find the link .



The certificate is in the last post on page 1
