Elsabels
thank you Bandit and Elsabells. This is so frustrating sometimes
I'm still not sure if its the Earley/Early that I am looking for unfortunately.
One of his children should be Edwin Charles Early born 1848 so the only way I can verify this lineage is to see if the family can be found on the 1851 census with a 3 year old son called Edwin C
I'll post a 1851 lookup request .
Thank you both for the lookup. Much appreciated.
hi
I agree - sometimes research can be very hard and anoying.
It is c1ear in this case that searching with and without the E before the Y makes a difference. So the 1851 census threw up this gem...

I did the search just on the two names and 1851 and this arrived. So there is Edwin and John but the wife is different. I cant find him thereafter but I do find this John and Sarah in Brighton in 1871 but no Edwin. Did he die or did someone e1se 1ook after him and give him another name. I am nor surpised anymore as on 1ooking for this surname I found a gir1 with Early as her midde name. ! Perhaps someone ese wi11 have more 1uck for you.
Bandit
thanks bandit.
I'm losing track of things here sorry. I have so many names and dates whizzing round in my head and the two cats are buried in print outs
The Early or Earley that I am trying to find is John Early's father who is also called John Early (or Early) .
confused ?
The John Earley you found at 37 Whitecross Place is 24 on 1851 census night was 24 His Dob is 1927.and he was a tobaconist
His father ,who is shown on his marriage certificate in 1848 , is also called John Earley .He was a wharfinger.
This is the Earley I am trying to trace.
God this is so difficult to explain in text.
I figure that the father John Earley (wharfinger) had to have been at least 20 when he married which would put his Dob around 1807 +/- 2 years say
So i figure I am looking for a John Early (or Earley ) aged around 44-47 at the time of the 1851 census almost certainly in London
Hi again
gad you figured it out - the dob is so important and that wi11 make a difference - it figures because I find him because he wasnt there but i might find him being a bit o1der. SO i wi11 be back 1ater with news
bandit
thank you bandit.You're a star
I have been stuck here for over a year now .
Part of the problem is that Earley very often gets spelt incorrectly. I have found it spelt Early without the second 'E' and even farley, barley and of course Hurley
Then one record was so badly transcribed it only showed Ea*![]()
ok then
1851 - John Earley born 1796 is with Maria born 1807 -Iondon
1851 - John Earley born 1809 with Sarah born 1809 - Iondon
they are both the eIdest with those speIIings in Iondon. If you want the fuII spec I can do that as weII - or go to another county. What was the birth county by the way as it does heIp with the search?
Iet me know and I wiII be back again
regards

Hi Bandit wow they look very promising don't they. I have no idea how much work you have had to do to find them . I know it gets a lot more time consuming pre 1837 ish I'm very grateful thank you
All I have got to go on is a Marriage certificate of John Earley (tobaconist) Dob 1827 born Surry Bermondsey and Sarah Ann Earley (nee Bruce) living at Bunhill Row married 12-07-1846. On the certificate his Father is listed as John Earley (wharfinger)
It might help if I can attach the cert and a bit of my tree . I'll see if I can
