Thank you Lady Marion, all of that information i have, i am wondering if Titus was a nickname that he just kept right up until his death and he was christened with another name i cannot get a marriage cert as he was married in 1832 in Earsdon, Northumberland the man is a mystery along with his parents and siblings (if any) i keep banging my head against the brick wall but it won't even shatter a little. Thank you for trying for me if you can think of any other way that i can get some information for him i will gladly take it.

Sharon01, Why dont you order the death cert..Its a legal document and might give you more info..You mentioned Titus married in 1832 so I wondered how you came by this ino? There must be a Parish Record of the event.. I have searched on Pallotts for you and I found this and thought it could be a relation of Titus.

    Pallot's Marriage Index for England: 1780 - 1837

    about John Rutherford

    Name:John RutherfordSpouse:Mary Briting Marriage Date:1815Parish:Stepney St Dunstan

I have also added a link which might help..Perhaps you can contact someone if you dont have the Marriage Cert and they could do a lookup for you...This way you will find out who the Father of Titus was...

    http://www.ndfhs.org.uk/RegIndex.html

From the above link I typed in Rutherford and came up with the info below for births..I see there is listed a Mary and a Jane...Perhpas there Birth Certs might be the way to go as well..

Your search returned the following results.

1840 - RUTHERFORD George Request Certificate (Opens in new window)

    Hello

The parish church in Stepney is HOLY TRINITY MINORIES

The records are BMD 1538-1812 not listed as individual. There are 2 books, 1 contains 79 pages the other 118 pages, the copying is complete pages

I have found Christenings end at page 83, burials start at page 84 of the larger book.

have checked pages 78-83 and cannot find an entry for Titus RUHERFORD

Did you know some Record offices and certain library's have ancestry avaliable for the public to use? Worth enquiring in your area, maybe a small cost involved I think this will depend on the Loca Auth and funding.

I,m thinking coming from Stepney London,s East End Titus came from a poor family..Baptisms cost money even in those days.Sometimes parents would wait a few years and have their children Baptised at the same time..Obviously Titus found his way out of the slums of Stepney and tried to better his life up North..Growing up in the East End of London I still remember Stepney very well..Although times have changed its still a very poor area.

Stepney would come under Tower Hamlets..Dockland Ancestors.

There are a few sites that offer help to people searching out their Dockland Ancestors...

Find My Past also have added 44,000 new Baptisms for London,s Docklands.. I only subscibe to Ancestry but perhaps another AA member who subscribes to Find My Past might be able to help..

There is also the site for E.O.L.F.H.S (East Of London Family History Society) They have message boards...You can also search their data base..

Once again thank you so much for all the help and advice you have given me. Sharron
