Default Trying to find the birth place of Thomas Wood

I am trying to find the birth place of Thomas Wood born about 1797 Yorkshire.

I have found him on the 1841/51/61 census - blacksmith - living South Dalton. My problem is I am unable to get any further back as I can't make out where he was born. The birth places are given as follows - Eaftstone or Eaststone (1851), Ebstone or Elstone (1861).

    Do you have any ideas?
