Thread: hogarth help please

Hi wonder if you can help me with this one, have had and still have access to all censuses. still a puzzle. my great grandmother sarah hogarth born liverpool lancs abt 1860 her father george hogarth born 1840 41 liverpool , he was a cooper. on the censuses it says his father is john hogarth mother elizabeth, i have sent for the marriage cert for george and his wife elizabeth smith , he states his dad is john hogarth so i sent for georges birth cert and they wouldnt send it because his father wasnt john hogarth,,, cant way it up. your help would be apprecciated have been doing this for years now but this is a puzzle. Goeorges daughter sarah hogarth is my grt grandmother and came to live northwich cheshire she married james hall her next door neighbour. would u be kind enough to follow the censuses and take careful not of the ages of the children, something not quite right . thanks

Sadies, I had a sim one like this and it turned out that on census father was Fred and on birth cert was george fred on marriage cert was fred, I would get birth cert anyway as it may give you a clue to the riddle. Just ask again without revealing father name or something. prehaps there are siblings for George? get a birth cert of theirs?

Thanks very much for that advice will give it a try. another strange thing abt it though. the kids names are the same but their ages dont match up by quite a few years. a real puzzle in onecensus it says sarah hogarth is 5mths old but on 1881 census she says shes only 17 when she should be few yrs older. thanks again for the advice. Thanks again for the info. i have followed george and latitia hogarth through the censuses and am almost certain they were not my georges parents, BUT i could have sent for the wrong birth certificate. however i put his mothers name as elizabeth and they didnt query that, will have another go... Thanks again

Hi again, sorry to be a nusiance but i cant find georges birth anwhere so i cant send for the certificate, any ideas ??? thanks.
