Default Trying to find a Jack Simpson

Hi, Searching for a Jack Simpson.

He appears on a marriage certificate dated August 2nd 1915 as the father of Arthur William Simpson then aged 23 who was marrying Beatrice Mary Murphy aged 22 at St Lukes Grimsby.

Jack is listed as being a fisherman but I cannot find any trace of him.

I know his son Arthur William was born 22nd October 1891 (could be a 7)!

    In Grimsby.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi Simba,

Jack is often used as a nickname for the name John.

You have Arthur's date of birth, do you know where he was born ?

If he was a fisherman (very likely in Grimsby!) then he may have been out fishing on census nights.

If Arthur was 23 in 1915 he would have been born 1891 or 2. If you know he was born in October it would be 1891 as he hadn't had his 24th birthday when he married in August.

    Hi Simba

on FreeBMD there is marriage of a Jack Simpson Jun 1891, District Caistor, Vol 7a, Page 1272. The 2 women on that page are Alice Rasdall & Minnie Susanna Whitaker. In the 1901 & 1911 census there is a Minnie Simpson (Wife, Married) with a son Arthur in Grimsby. On FreeBMD there is the birth of a Arthur William Simpson Dec 1891 district Caistor, Vol 7a, page 614.
    Regards David

Minnie shows up in the 1901 census as Minnie Simpson, aged 34 married, Arthur William aged 19 also shows, but no Jack (off fishing ???)

Similar story on the 1911 census!

    On with the search...............

Suggest a cheaper option to the Marriage Cert is applying to Record Office

Archive@lincolnshire.gov.uk for a copy of the parish record, this will give most of the details you will need at the cost of postage and p/copy
