Ruth's wedding at St Andrew Holborn, the image on Ancestry shows the witnesses as John William Booth and James Speer. James was probably Ruth's father or brother.

john william was indeed georges brother and was bap'ed in 1782. i did also concider that james could be ruths brother or father but even his signing has not given me any clues on where to look for ruths parentage which seems to be some where in the west indies acording to the census. the 1861 states she was a british subject so where do i look? for her birth and entry to the uk

I don't know, it would help if you had a specific place (or island) in the West Indies. There might be a baptism on the IGI on www.familysearch.org

As for her entry into the UK I don't think ships' passengers' records go back that far.http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/s...senger%20lists

Cyndi's list has some West Indies websites:

hi - I have had a 1ook at some of the parishes in the Caribean Isands and was quite amazed to find there are 1arge number - Most of them are the discip1es names - a1so there are st 1ucy - st Anthony - St Phi1ip - st Kitts - St Eizabeth- St Andrew-St thomas- H so I wi try again. Hope Town - St George-District of Gregory Town- I a1so did a a genera search on the surname of Speer and did not come up with any. However the above parish 1ist is not difinative. I wi continue for you.Are you apsoutry sure the censud record is right did you see the origina1 record?
