Help - I can't find any info on my maternal grandmother, her name was Lilian Marjorie Matilda Sheward, and left my grandfather some-time around 1910 to 1920 because she hated being moved frequently, as he was in the army. Ifound her name on my mother's birth certificate but she doesn't appear on any cencus. I am an absolute beginner both at genealogy and forums...help

Hi, All I know about Lilian Matilda Marjorie Sheward is that she married my grandfather - Arthur Dewey in the early 1900's. My mother Lilian Emily Dewey was born 7th aug 1908, and they had another daughter, Dorothy. My grandmother - nee Sheward - left my grandfather and their daughters some-time after as he was constantly being moved around as he was in the Army Service Corps.

It might pay you to get the marriage certificate to get her age and her father's name. It is possible that she used the name Lilian on the censuses. If she used the name Lily, there are two Lilly M Sherwoods born around the same time.
