I am trying to reseach the Scafie family i believe came from Sheffield i anyone has any information about this family i would be most obliged.

What time period are we talking about? If its pre-1911 have you looked on censuses? If its post-1911 or you are wanting to contact living people, a letter to the local newspaper may help.



The GRO indexes will give you births and marriages, the deaths index isn't completely transcribed yet.



Other sources would be the telephone book/street & trades directories, electoral rolls,but again it depends on the time frame. First names would help too.

Only one Scafie on censuses on Ancestry (though the name has probably been mistranscribed on others)



1901

Annie Scafie 23 [abt 1878] born Knasbrough, [probably Knaresborough] Yorkshire, England unmarried, Servant at the Gardener's Arms, Pontefract, Yorkshire.

Only two marriages, though their spouses (the names you are interested in) don't appear.



Sarah J McGeorge & Scafie Jul-Aug-Sep 1918 Carlisle Cumberland



Charles N Savage & Downey Or Scafie Jul-Aug-Sep 1928 Leeds Yorkshire - West Riding



NB - www.freebmd.org.uk has the Carlisle marriage with groom's name James S. Scaife



It has the Charles Savage marriage as Scaife too, but the brides on the page are Lily S. Chadwick and Annie Downey.

IGI (International Genealogical Index) on www.familysearch.org doesn't have any Scafies in Yorkshire, just some in Bedfordshire and some in Lancashire, only 6 individuals altogether.
