Thread: 1891/1901 Census look up please for Eaton's

Would someone be able to find the following family for me on the 1891 & 1901 censuses?



From 1881 census:

George Thomas Eaton born 1850 Bethnal Green/Islington Clothing manufacturer (Tailor)

Mary Ann Eaton born 1853 Shoreditch

Mary Ann Eaton born 1879 Shoreditch (think she became a seamstress?)

15 Herbert St, London.



I'd like to know if they had any more children, especially with easier names than Mary to trace!

You beat me to it Starlight. It took me a bit longer to find them as my web site had them as Easton in 1891 and Caton in 1901. Such is life

Obviously poor indxing with the variable middle names.

Too many Mary Ann Eaton marriages post 1901 to justify buying GRO certificates, so I'll call that line closed.

At least I haven't missed any children

Strange how my relatives seem to move a few houses between censuses, I've got dozens of examples

Did you see the addition of Elizabeth S Eaton/Head/Wid/83/Monthly nurse-sick/Rotherhithe. I may have edited it after you read it.

I found that quite interesting.

His mother was Sarah Eaton nee Osborn 1825 Islington (1881 census & wedding 1847).

As his father George Thomas Eaton 1824 Clapton (1881 census) was a widow in 1891, I thought I had worked out that Sarah died 1883 in Islington.

George dies in 1895.



Either George Thomas elder remarried or else the Elizabeth S Eaton must be a sister-in-law of the elder.

Looks like I have to check the 1881 census for Elizabeth S Eaton, find her husband and see if I can validate him to GTE's father THOMAS Eaton who I have no details of other than he was a Labourer.



It is funny how easy it is to miss a small peice of information, never know it might be the key to opening this family to older generations

George Thomas Eaton did not marry Elizabeth S after being widowed.

According to Freebdm searches and I have no luck with 1881 census.



Is there any chance of checking 1891 census for 30 Herbert St, to see if there are any other Eatons there so I can work backwards?
