Where did you get his christian names from ? I cannot find him on either the 1891 or 1901 census on Ancestry or on Scotlandspeoples. Neither can I find a birth but there is a James Joseph McSparron born in 1884.

sorry not replied yet, been busy on the farm today, i got his name from his wedding certificate he married adelaide florence madeline howells in 1916 in steynton were the mcsparrons reside now, the man is the grandfather of my step dad, i am trying to put his tree together as a thank you for taking care of my mother, for the last 13 years since her brain anyrism, i have heard the family originated from scotland. john joseph was 32 en he wed his dads name was john mcsparron who was a master, merchant service, john joseph was a rnr stoker on hmt chaticleen, milford haven was a busiling town for the royal navy and the trawlers, hmt is her majestys trawler i suppose its commissioned name for the first world war.

hi starlight because of the secrecy in this search as its gift for my stepdad, i asked in conversation last night, did your grandad come from scotland, and he said that many moons ago when the scottish were fighting the english his family name was MACSPARRON, but because one of his ancestors stole the purse of scotland (dont know what this is but had to be a disgraceful thing to do) they changed the surname to MCSPARRON because the little c was a mark against them, he said that his family in those times were lairds of mull of kintyre but cant verify this, so yes i wud say that is his ancestor because my step dad was named by his dad JAMES WILLIAM EDGAR and the edgar comes from his dads middle name.



is it easy to join the scottish census starlight so i can trace myself.though i am very grateful for your awsome help
