Default John (Thomas) Taylor or Blackburn, Lancs

Help needed please re: John (Thomas) Taylor

He was known as Thomas but I believe his name was John Thomas Taylor. (All his children were shown on census by their middle name & not their first).

The only info. I have on his parents is that shown on his marriage cert. & that his father was John Taylor whose occupation was Dyer.

He married Eliza Parkes in 1854 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex, London & put his trade as an Engineer. On one of his children's birth cert. he said he was a Moulder. Since he has always put Labourer.

1861 census is the only census I can find on which he says he was born in Blackburn.

I have found a birth in Blackburn on 15 July 1821 with parents: John & Martha Taylor & wondered if this was him. (He named his first daughter Martha Alice so I wondered if this was after his mother). Is there any way I can find the occupation of John to see if he was a Dyer by trade on this birth.

    Thank you everyone.

    Hi,

The baptism entry may give the occupation of the father but it was not usually included.
