Thread: Worboys & Tott

Hi

I am looking for more info re the Worboys family and Tott from Ashwell, Cambs, info below:



Elizabeth Worboys born approx 1818

married

Jonathan Austin born approx 1815

I think they married Oct 1836



I would like any info on Elizabeth Worboys (is she related to Augusta Worboys?)



Their daughter Mary Ann Alice Austin born approx 1849

married

James Tott born approx 1846 died 5/12/1907

They married in Ashwell on 15/6/1867



If possible the mothers name of James Tott above. I only have a name of Mary Ann no maiden name. Father's name John Tott born approx 1817.



They had a son James Tott born 21/4/1870 in Ashwell

married

Mary Matilda Willsdon born 03/04/1890 in Wiltshire died in 1973 in Essex



I believe that James Tott above had more than one wife as when he married my gt. grandmother Mary above he already had 2 daughters one called Irene. James and Mary had 2 children Bernard and Jean. (Jean my maternal grandmother) Does anyone know the name of his former wife?

On the IGI I have found a marriage between a James Tott aged 21 and Mary Anne Alice Austin aged 18 - 15.6.1867 Ashwell.



Also James Tott and Agnes Eleanor Garnham married 19.11.1881 Reed, Hertford.



There is also a Elizabeth Worboys christened 4.7.1819 Ashwell, parent's William and Mary, and a Augusta Worboys christened 10.6.1838 Cambridge, his parent's also William and Mary.

Can I ask what site IGI is?

Thanks for the info as I suspected Augusta (female) is related to my Elizabeth Worboys whose daughter Mary married into the Tott family herself ( I assume a cousin)

The person who gave me some info re Augusta thought that the dates of baptism were in fact the dates of birth, is this possible?

The IGI is the International Genealogical Index found at



www.familysearch.org



I would suspect the dates you were given were christening dates rather than birth dates. Birth certificates were not issued until 1837. You may find a birth date and a christening date in church records.
