Hi,
I have recieved a death certificate of Mary Perkins in 1937. Under occupation, it says wife of Llewellyn Perkins, general labourer.
If she was a widow, would it say so?
Many Thanks

Hi Mrsp2008,
As her husband is named and his occuption stated, it looks as though he is still living.
Yes, if her husband was dead she would be described as "widow of"
Hi Starlight and Jeuel,
Thank you very much for your replies! Why is it, when you discover a new document that you think will answer questions, it just throws up some more?!
Mary's son, my husband's grandfather, married in 1936. On the certificate his father, Llewellyn is stated as deceased. We were always under the impression he died well before this, but I've never been able to find a death record-maybe that's why?!!
I've just ordered the marriage certificate of the daughter who registered Mary's death, who married in 1938, so shall see what this throws up!
Many Thanks again,
Mrsp
The other thing to consider is that the information on death certs is necessarily second hand and might be incorrect. Whoever registered the death may have been confused or upset or not understood the question, or the registrar may have misheard or made a mistake.
Hi
just on the off chance, could this be the death record?

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your reply. I actually have a copy of that certificate and it wasn't him![]()
We actually made contact with his grandson though and passed it on, so it was of some use to someone!
In 1931, according to his eldest son's marriage cert, he was alive in 1931.
I've looked at the consular deaths, but no luck. The last known whereabouts was in Nova Scotia in 1910.
We have his service records from before WW1, and they have an amended note to say he had re-enlisted during ww1 and came out in 1920-what are the chances of 2 Llewellyn Perkins both being in the RGA?!
I wonder if I'll ever find this man?!!
Many Thanks
Mrsp
